Breeding for welfare in laying birds-the ISA philosophy

Since the first official report on animal welfare from Brambell in 1965, most of the improvements have been aimed at reducing environmental constraints on layers. But is is not realistic to try to protect birds from all stress, even when they are kept in good conditions.
