HENDRIX GENETICS HAS SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO ACQUIRE EURIBRID, THE ANIMAL BREEDING DIVISION OF NUTRECO HOLDING N.V.
                                          
Hendrix Genetics B.V. and Nutreco Holding N.V. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the sale of Nutreco’s animal breeding activities “Euribrid”, including its related Animal Breeding Research Centre, to Hendrix Genetics B.V. The selling price is EURO 50 million. Euribrid posted revenues of EUR 73.9 million in 2005. Completion of the deal is expected in the first half of 2007.

Antoon van den Berg, Chief Executive Officer and co-shareholder of Hendrix Genetics, adds “Today is a great day for both companies. By combining the breeding activities, Nutreco and Hendrix Genetics further develop their joint relation, which is built on trust and mutual successes. I am honoured and proud to give leadership to this new enlarged group and we are confident, knowing the capabilities of the people and breeding know how of Euribrid, combined with an even greater shareholder stability and dedication from Hendrix Genetics, that we are able to create a strong breeding group that establishes leadership in the sectors we are working in”.    
Thijs Hendrix, President and controlling shareholder of Hendrix Genetics adds: “based upon our common history and shared values we will create a new platform with a new horizon that will enable us to further focus on growth and consolidation opportunities in animal breeding and life sciences”.

Euribrid is the Animal Breeding Division of Nutreco Holding N.V. and consists of three dedicated breeding companies, each focusing on its own species; HYBRO (Broilers) HYBRID (Turkeys) and HYPOR (Pigs). And a trading company (day old chickens and hatching eggs from layers and broilers), named PLUMEX. Euribrid is headquartered in Boxmeer, the Netherlands. With a number of wholly owned operations and joint ventures across the world in 15 countries on 3 continents, Euribrid serves the world’s broiler, turkey and pork industry in more than 100 countries with about 550 employees.                                                                                  

Nutreco Holding N.V. is an international animal feed and fish feed company whose mission is to create added value in important markets on the basis of its food chain expertise. Nutreco also has a selective downstream presence in the food production chain. Its Layer Breeding Division, shortly to be globally renamed to INSTITUT DE SELECTION ANIMALE (ISA), produces and sells grandparent and parent breeders to the world wide layer industry. Both white and brown egg layer genetic products are sold under the brand names ISA, WARREN, SHAVER, BABCOCK, GOLDEN COMET, BOVANS, HISEX and DEKALB.
